New Partner Announcement

Galicia Abogados is pleased to announce that, effective July 1, 2019, Edson Uribe Guerrero joins our Firm as Partner in our tax practice.

The incorporation of Edson confirms our strategy and commitment to consolidate our tax practice by strengthening and expanding the consulting, avoidance and resolution of tax disputes services that we provide.

Until April 30, 2019 Edson was the Deputy Chair of the Mexican Tax Ombudsman Agency (PRODECON), where he was officer in charge of implementing and supervising the first alternative dispute resolution procedure in tax matters in Mexico, the Conclusive Agreements. This procedure is used by companies listed in Fortune 500 to resolve, through mediation, the disagreements that arise with the tax authorities during the course of tax audits.

His role as chief mediator allowed him to be instrumental in allowing Mexican and foreign companies to successfully resolve high-complex negotiations before the Mexican Tax Authorities in areas such as transfer pricing, financial system, tax treaties application and international audits.

Edson is a well-regarded tax attorney in Mexico and abroad. His ability to design and implement strategies to resolve highly complex tax issues is broadly recognized.

He is the only Mexican member of the Subcommittee on Dispute Avoidance and Resolution of the United Nations Committee of Experts on International Cooperation in Tax Matters. He has actively participated in research groups, technical panels and conferences in countries such as the United States of America, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, England, India and China.

He obtained his Law Degree from the University of Guadalajara and has a Masters Degree in Tax Analysis from the same University.

As we reach our 25th Anniversary, Galicia Abogados reaffirms its commitment to render outstanding legal services and continues to consolidate its leadership in the Mexican legal market by strengthening strategic practice areas and making a clear difference in the way we provide integral and multidisciplinary advice to our clients.
