Ricardo Montejano

Ricardo is an associate of Galicia Abogados S.C., who finished his studies at Universidad Panamericana on 2017, obtained his law degree from the same institution, and successfully concluded the diploma course in Insurance and Bonds at Escuela Libre de Derecho on 2019. He is a member of the Firm’s insurance and reinsurance practice group. His practice specializes in regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and licensing process of direct insurers, insurance brokers and reinsurers, for domestic and foreign companies before various Mexican regulation agencies, such as the Mexican Ministry of Finance and the Mexican Insurance and Bonding Commission.

 Ricardo also advises worldwide insurance companies for the establishment of presence, representation offices and start-up transactions within Mexican territory, and his experience includes advice and research in multi-jurisdictional insurance and reinsurance claims and complex coverage disputes. His litigation background gives him a unique focus for new operations and an innovative approach to handle these cases.

He offers assistance and advice to corporate clients outside the insurance industry in complex insurance and reinsurance matters, including resolutions of regulatory issues, preparation of insurance and reinsurance agreements and the analysis and negotiation of insurance and reinsurance claims.

His practice brings together a unique insight into Mexican insurance and reinsurance laws and a global outlook driven by a demanding international clientele. His expertise cuts through contentious, transactional and regulatory aspects.

Ricardo worked as an Associate in mayor law firms in Mexico, with specialized insurance and reinsurance practices, such as Clyde and Co., and Creel García Cuéllar, Aiza y Enríquez, S.C., from 2017 to the end of 2020.
