Sandra’s work includes coordinating global IP portfolios, advising on the prosecution of famous and well-known marks, and managing opposition proceedings and office action responses before the Mexican Trademark Office. She has significant experience handling provisional refusals under the Madrid Protocol and regularly advises on renewals, declarations of use, cease-and-desist letters, co-existence and consent agreements, as well as the negotiation and drafting of IP-related contracts, including assignments and licenses.
Her interest in the intersection of intellectual property and cultural heritage has led her to advise retail and luxury brands on the responsible use and protection of indigenous and Afro-Mexican cultural expressions, ensuring compliance with legal frameworks governing the use of traditional knowledge, as well as archaeological, artistic, and historical elements in branding and product design.
Prior to joining Galicia, she worked at two Mexican firms specializing in intellectual property.
Sandra received her law degree from Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (2023) and is a member of the Mexican Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AMPPI), the franchises committee of the Inter-American Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI) and the International Trademark Association (INTA).
