Gerardo Rodríguez

Gerardo is an expert in antitrust and competition matters.

With more than 15 years of experience, Gerardo is well regarded among clients, peers and competition authority officers, making him a trustworthy counsel for complex merger applications and anticompetitive investigations. He has gained extensive experience in the investigations and compliance fields, participating in more than 60% of procedures carried out by COFECE in recent years.

He has deep knowledge of and experience in various industries, including telecommunications, networks, broadcasting, railroad transportation, and oil & gas, as well as other regulated sectors, such as healthcare and life sciences, financial services and air transportation, among others. 

Gerardo has provided legal advice to communities in the southeast of Mexico on obtaining broadcasting concessions for indigenous social use.

He earned his J.D. from Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas (CIDE) and obtained his LL.M. from Indiana University.

He worked for the Mexican Federal Competition Commission and the Federal Trade Commission (appointed pursuant under the U.S. Safe Web Act of 2006). 

He is ranked by the renowned international publication, Chambers Latin American Guide, as an expert in the Competition practice. Gerardo is counsel to the team recognized as “Elite” by the specialized publication, Global Competition Review (GCR100).
